Course Description
In the Level 4 Fascial Manipulation ® (FM-4) course, participants will learn the role of superficial fascia and its dysfunction together with a systemic alteration of the vegetative system.
This course consists of one four-days course that could be divided in the hybrid version in two on-line and two on-site days.
Level 4 will introduce the Quadrants and the Systems.
Anatomical divisions of the superficial fascia form a quadrant. These divisions, both in horizontal and longitudinal directions, are due to thickenings of the retinacula cutis that are adhesive to the deep fascia. The area of a quadrant usually corresponds to the distribution of the cutaneous nerves and angiosomes. Within each quadrant, there are all the three superficial components of the systems: receptors, lymphatic vessels and adipose cells. The quadrants represent the peripheral part of the vegetative system that is organized through the paravertebral ganglia.

Learning Objectives of the FM Level 4
At the conclusion of the course, the participant should be able to:
- Recognize the anatomy of the superficial fascia and understand the role of superficial fascia in lymphatic, immune and adipose system. (Knowledge)
- Differentiate between internal-external or external-internal type pain and assess the proper assessment process in order to define the quadrants in disorder. (Analysis)
- Develop effective treatment for superficial fascia with different manualities in relation to the body area and chronicity. (Synthesis)
- Evaluate the quality of the superficial fascia through a specific palpatory verification resolving the tissue stiffness. (Evaluation)
