Steps to becoming a mentor
Before submitting the application form:
- Complete the ABPTRFE course “Successful Mentorship for Residency and Fellowship Education” located in APTA Learning Center.
- Send receipt & certificate of completion to [email protected] for reimbursement of ABPTRFE course.
After submitting the application form:
- Review the video of an actual onsite mentoring session done by the program director (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
- View the video on the resident handbook orientation (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
- View the pdf presentation “mentor orientation” (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
- Read and be familiar with the Certificate Handbook, Faculty/Mentor Handbook, residency Handbook, and Appendices (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
- Once all the above is completed, orientation discussion with the Program Director by phone, in person, or via Zoom.
