If yes, you should apply to be a mentor in the American Academy of Clinical Electrodiagnosis / Hands-On Diagnostics Residency Program.

Mentor Benefits

  • Earn up to 200 hours per resident that can be applied towards Category 1 MOSC credits!

Mentor Requirements

  • Current license to practice PT in at least one state.
  • Active ECS status.
  • Currently practicing EDX (~20% of normal working hours).
  • Available time to review resident’s studies & travel to resident’s clinic.
  • Basic computer skills (word, excel, email, video chat).

Steps to becoming a mentor

Before submitting the application form:

  1. Complete the ABPTRFE course “Successful Mentorship for Residency and Fellowship Education” located in APTA Learning Center.
  2. Send receipt & certificate of completion to [email protected] for reimbursement of ABPTRFE course.

After submitting the application form:

  1. Review the video of an actual onsite mentoring session done by the program director (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
  2. View the video on the resident handbook orientation (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
  3. View the pdf presentation “mentor orientation” (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
  4. Read and be familiar with the Certificate Handbook, Faculty/Mentor Handbook, residency Handbook, and Appendices (provided to you after evaluation of your application).
  5. Once all the above is completed, orientation discussion with the Program Director by phone, in person, or via Zoom.
