Training to Significantly Improve Per-Patient Insurance Reimbursements
Physical therapists have been limited to physical exams for too long. Treatment plans were built around evaluations and patient histories. Patient histories are a valuable source of information. But a patient’s awareness and description of their symptoms determine their effectiveness.
Physical exams only go as far as the tests a therapist can perform. Consider the following physical therapy exams:
- Tinnel Sign – Sensitivity 23% (Kuhlman and Hennessey 1997)
- Phalen Sign – Sensitivity 51% and Specificity 76% (Kuhlman and Hennessey 1997)
- Spurling’s test – Sensitivity 30% (Tong, H. C., Haig, A. J., & Yamakawa, K. (2002). The Spurling test and cervical radiculopathy. Spine, 27(2), 156-159.)
Low numbers like these lead to false negatives. They also make early detection difficult or impossible.
Access to Ground-Breaking Diagnostic Technology
Hands-On Diagnostics knew PTs needed a faster and more accessible route to the latest and most innovative technology. We found innovative physical therapy solutions to increase profits and provide accurate, objective, and reliable results.
Our tests are highly sensitive and specific to most musculoskeletal problems.
Consider their effectiveness in carpal tunnel syndrome.
- EMG/NCS Sensitivity is 86% and Specificity 98% (American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Academy of Physical et al. 2002)
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Sensitivity is 77.6% and Specificity is 86.8% (Fowler, J. R., Gaughan, J. P., & Ilyas, A. M. (2011). The sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound for the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome: a meta-analysis. Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research®, 469(4), 1089-1094.)
- In Cervical Radiculopathy EMG/NCS: Sensitivity is 71% (Muscle Nerve 22: Supplement 8: S209-S211, 1999)
These tests are now available to you! Our robust training puts accurate diagnosis at your fingertips the fastest way possible.
